usual one. The smaller bar on top represents the scroll with the in-scription INRI, which stands for "Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews." This, the Gospels say, was posted at Pilate's command above the head of Jesus as he suffered on the cross (Mark 15:26, John 19:19), testimony to the fundamental tenet of the hidden church that Jesus was the legitimate king of David s lineage.
